Analysis Plan TitleInformation Sources, Trust and Perception of Government Measures in the Adoption of Protective Behaviors During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Colombia
Analysis Plan DescriptionThis study analyzes the association between the consumption of and trust in different information sources and the evaluation and adoption of government preventive measures during the COVID-19 pandemic in Colombia, using data from the iCARE project collected in two periods in 2020 (May–July and July–December). In a context of high uncertainty and information overload, understanding how exposure to different sources shapes both the population’s perception of government measures and their willingness to adopt them is key to identifying the mechanisms that facilitate or hinder protective behaviors. Using a quantitative approach, independent analyses will be conducted for each period employing descriptive statistics, bivariate associations, and Poisson regression models with robust variance to estimate prevalence ratios, with the adoption of protective behaviors as a binary dependent variable. The results of the second period will be interpreted through an exploratory lens to identify continuities and changes in the information environment and their relationship with such adoption. This project seeks to generate evidence on the dynamics of risk communication in public health emergencies in Colombia, with the aim of strengthening the design of more effective communication strategies for future health contingencies.
