| Analysis Plan Title | Comparing attitude networks of beliefs about the COVID-19 vaccine |
| Analysis Plan Description | Network analysis will be used to visualize connections between beliefs. Analyses will be preformed using R software. Items capturing beliefs about the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccine will be modelled as nodes that make up attitude networks. Gaussian graphical models with lasso-regularization and EBIC (EBICglasso) will be estimated because beliefs were measured continuously. Two separate Network Comparison Tests (NCTs) will be made using two Canadian representative samples. NCTs allow for two groups with networks consisting of the same nodes to be compared on three aspects: 1) overall structure, 2) individual edge strength, and 3) global connectivity. A significant test statistic for any of the tests indicates a significant difference between the two networks. Test statistics are calculated by permutation-based tests in which the observed metric is compared to a reference distribution 1,000 randomly reassigned groups. These comparisons, as well as other centrality indices used to describe the networks, will be calculated for the following iterations: Study 1: Using Canadian representative sample survey 4 (January 7 – February 7, 2021), a NCT will be preformed to test for differences in network structures for those who report it is extremely likely to get the vaccine vs those who are hesitant. Study 2: Using Canadian representative sample survey 6 (May 31 – June 14, 2021) , a NCT will be preformed to test for differences in network structures for those who reported being vaccinated vs those who report not being vaccinated |
