Analysis Plan TitleWhat is the interplay between media behavior and vaccination intentions and vaccination status? A case study of Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic
Analysis Plan DescriptionRegression analysis will examine the association between media behavior (obtaining Covid-19 information from Television news, Radio news, Newspapers, Internet news, Social media, and Word of mouth) and vaccine intentions among adults. This analysis will be performed with data from the Canadian representative sample, waves 3 to 6. Control variables in the model will include support for governmental actions (perceived importance and strictness), concerns, negative impacts and fear related to the disease, chronic diseases status, and sociodemographic factors (gender, age, province, education level, and household income). Since surveys 3-5 were conducted prior to widespread availability of the Covid-19 vaccine in Canada, vaccine intentions will be our primary variable of interest. In addition to behavioral intentions, we will also examine the association between media behavior and vaccination status using the survey 6 data. This survey was conducted once large vaccination campaigns were launched. In this case, respondents were asked about their vaccine intentions, but also their actual vaccination status.
