TRAVEL POLICY
iCARE collaborators and trainees may apply for a travel stipend to present their iCARE-related research at conferences, subject to the availability of funds. All applications will be evaluated for relevance to iCARE knowledge transfer objectives, scientific quality, and impact.
iCARE collaborators and trainees may apply for up to $1500CAD (trainees) and $2000CAD (collaborators) once per 12-month period (which begins the date of the conference for which the travel stipend is being applied for), the amount of which is calculated based on a needs assessment that takes the travel budget into account (e.g., a larger stipend may be awarded for international travel).
To be eligible to receive a travel stipend, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be an iCARE investigator, collaborator, or trainee.
- Trainees must be registered at a recognized academic institution.
- Applicants must be presenting iCARE data.
- Applicants must be presenting an abstract (poster or presentation) at the conference.
- Applicants must declare any other funds that are available from their university or Research Centre. If they obtain funds from one of these sources, they must be declared, and the amount of the stipend may not exceed the total budget estimate for attending the conference.
Eligible expenses (for budget):
- Conference registration fees (early bird and membership equivalent price only)
- Economy transportation (air, train, bus)
- Accommodations
- Airport transfers, local transfers (shuttle, metro, subway)
A lump sum will be issued to cover the associated travel expenses. All individual eligible expenses will be calculated together to estimate the total.
No monetary advances can be granted – the stipend will be issued upon proof of conference attendance.
Stipends will be issued by the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Please note, these stipends constitute taxable income. Additional forms will be communicated via email after submission of this form.
